Project goal

The goal of this project is to design and implement a conditions database within the FairShip software framework. The database will contain a range of detector parameters that are used in the reconstruction of particle collision events, such as alignment and calibration constants, temperature, and magnetic-field strength.

Project background

SHiP is a proposed new experiment to be built on the Super Proton Synchrotron (SPS), the second-largest machine in CERN’s accelerator complex. SHiP is aimed primarily at exploring the domain of very weakly interacting particles and studying the properties of tau neutrinos.

This project focuses on FairShip, the object-oriented simulation, reconstruction and data-analysis framework to be used by the experiment. FairShip is based on the FairRoot framework used at the GSI Helmholtzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung in Germany.
