Mariana Velho studied cognitive psychology and science communication at the University of Minho.
She has worked as a Junior Communications Officer at the ATLAS Experiment Education & Outreach team at CERN where she developed a special interest in creating educational materials to engage children with science. She moved on to work as a STEM Education & Outreach Research Fellow at the Technological University of Dublin where, in partnership with Microsoft Dream Space in Ireland, she developed and implemented summer camps for children aged 6-16 to engage with STEM activities while training their visuospatial abilities.
Currently, she is a Communication & Outreach Officer at the CERN IT Department and the Chief Communications Officer for CERN openlab.
