Luca Atzori


Luca is a member of the CTO Office of CERN openlab. He holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science and joined CERN in 2015.

In his primary role, Luca leads the team responsible for planning, coordinating and executing the procurement lifecycle for server, storage and data-centre equipment across CERN’s computing facilities. His section also manages site-wide procurement of desktop and laptop systems, ensuring alignment with the Organisation’s large-scale scientific computing needs.

Within CERN openlab, Luca acts as CTO for Computing, where he leads the team managing openlab’s computing resources. His responsibilities include enabling access for users, supporting high-performance workloads, and driving performance tuning and profiling of scientific applications.

His team also contributes to the organisation of specialised training courses and workshops on system performance optimisation, working with experts from CERN and industry.
